Ten years after the adoption of the General Data Protection Regulation, the English-language casebook *European Data Law* takes stock and examines key decisions and developments in European data law.

Dr Ole Schröder has contributed the foreword, ‘Council of the European Union’. In it, he examines the role of the Council of the European Union in shaping European data protection regulation. As Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of the Interior at the time, he was directly involved on the German side in the negotiations on the General Data Protection Regulation.

Edited by Prof. Dr Rolf Schwartmann, Dr Marek Steffen Jansen and Dr Moritz Köhler, the casebook brings together contributions from the business sector, the legal profession, public authorities, the courts and academia. It provides an overview of the key principles of European data protection law and their practical application.
