Jan Mönikes was born in Oldenburg and grew up in Ludwigsburg. He initially spent almost a decade working as a parliamentary assistant to members of the German Bundestag in Bonn and Berlin, whilst also studying politics, psychology and law. After passing his state law examinations, he spent several years in senior roles at international IT companies, followed by two decades practising as a solicitor and partner at regional law firms. Jan Mönikes specialises in providing advice at the interface between communication, politics and law. As legal counsel and adviser to renowned associations and federations, he is well versed in organisational and constitutional matters and advises a number of companies and international organisations on issues relating to data protection, media law and competition law. Thanks to his expertise and many years of experience, he is particularly valued as an adviser in challenging communication situations. Since July 2024, he has been practising as a lawyer at HÄRTING Rechtsanwälte in the role of Of Counsel.
