The adjustments to the bill previously made by the National Council were adopted unchanged by the Council of States (see our July 2020 article).
The Council of States, as well as the National Council, are therefore in favour of better positioning Switzerland as a location for block chain and distributed ledger technology (DLT). Together with the approval of the total revision of the Data Protection Act of 24.09.2020, Switzerland is well prepared for future digital challenges.
In their final votes on 25 September 2020, the two Councils each unanimously approved the bill. It had already become apparent during the discussions that the final vote was merely a formality.
