In his article ‘Prospects for the Geoinformation Sector’, Dr Ole Schröder examines the role of geodata for the state, the economy and society. The publication forms part of the Speyer Research Report ‘Geodata and Open Government – Perspectives on Digital Governance’.
Geoinformation is a key resource for digital administration and modern infrastructure policy. It plays an important role in areas such as transport, energy supply, healthcare, security, the environment, urban development and economic innovation. The article demonstrates that geodata cannot be viewed in isolation, but is part of a broader trend towards digital governance.
The focus is on the question of how Germany can make better use of the potential of geoinformation.
